Reporting Child Abuse and Obscene Images
Who can you report abuse to?
The place to report abuse depends upon the type of abuse experienced and the location of the abuse.
For immediate reports of serious crimes ring 999 or your local police station, details of which can be found here: www.police.uk/forces.htm.
Online child abuse/sexual abuse/obscene images can be reported to:
- Internet Watch Foundation: www.iwf.org.uk
- CEOP: www.ceop.gov.uk
- Virtual Global Taskforce: www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com
Mobile phone abuse (e.g. nuisance calls etc.) can be reported to your mobile phone operator. Contacts for operators can be found on our Mobile Phones page.
Chat, Instant Messenger, Social Networking Sites and Blogs all have ‘report abuse’ links on their pages, usually located at the bottom of the page. Encourage your children to report any abuse here. In instances of emergency, you should report abuse to the Police.
